Have you ever seen a ghost? A ghost sign, that is.
These signs are the faded, often barely legible, advertisements painted on the sides of stores years ago. It was an inexpensive and readily available advertising space. Today, some stores are restoring the signs that often feature old and nearly forgotten advertising slogans and some are creating new signs with the vintage look.
People enjoy the signs for the memories they bring of 5- and 10-cent stores, downtown mercantiles and 5-cent Coca-Cola.
