After all, the songwriter played a key role in The Mariner’s Children and Peggy Sue, lending an air of experience to his current solo work.
New album 'Night Songs' is aptly named - written at night, it was sparked by periods of insomnia. "I’d finish work around one to three am most of the time and walk home through the broken glass on the pavement. There’s a lot of duality about that time. It’s ominous and lonely but it’s cinematic and kind of magical too. I wanted to channel that into a set of songs".
Sessions span a 12 month period, a lengthy time by Benjamin's standards. But it was worth the wait, with 'Night Songs' boasting some of his most intriguing work to date.
'Had What You Had' is an engrossing example, full of lyrical word play and warm musicianship.
Pirate Radio is able to premiere the accompanying visuals, and you can check it out below.
Tiago Saga was born in Portugal, but currently resides in Brighton.
The cultural shift seems to have done strange things to his imagination. An innovative and wildly imaginative songwriter, debut EP 'Busy With My Head' was recorded in Belgium, across a five day burst.
Having been released at the beginning of March, the Pack A.D.'s "So What" single should be familiar to fans of the band by now. A new music video for the crunchy pop-rock cut, however, delivers something quite alien.
Directed by Matt Leaf, the clip first finds vocalist/guitarist Becky Black hopping into her car to go for a spin, but a flash of light beams her into an alien craft. As she struggles and sings her way through her captivity, a series of hands caress her face an inject her with a black dye.
"The video we made for 'So What' is an homage to so many influential horror and sci-fi films, and is extremely personal to me," Leaf said in a statement. "I got to season the video with little love notes from all my favorite sci-fi films! They allowed me the opportunity to make the video of my dreams, and goddamn if this isn't it."
As previously reported, the Pack A.D. are due to release a new album sometime soon through Cadence Music Group. They also have a spring tour on the horizon, and you can see the date details over here.
Revving up some more interest in last year's excellent Cranekiss LP, Tamaryn has just offered up a new set of visuals behind the album's "Sugarfix."
The nocturnally-minded video finds Tamaryn hitting the open road in a drop-top sports car, the wind blasting through her copper mane as she sings to herself. Despite the airy intro to the clip and the calming dream-pop textures of the tune, the audio-visual component also comes with an uncomfortably confining finale.
You can give Tamaryn's self-directed video a peep down below.
It was recently revealed that Tamaryn will be supporting Lush on their upcoming leg of West Coast dates, including a stop in Vancouver. You'll find the listings for the joint dates below as well.
Tour dates:
04/17 San Francisco, CA - The Warfield * 04/19 Portland, OR - Crystal Ballroom * 04/21 Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom *
Sometimes it can take the worst points of our life to make us realise what matters.
Leaone lost his job, his girlfriend, and was mugged in the space of a few days - to say he was low is perhaps an under-statement.
Yet he persevered. Pushing ahead, the aspiring artist pushed these feelings into music, resulting in some brave new tracks.
New cut 'Young Green Eyes' is one of them. It was prompted by the end of his relationship, and nods towards Johnny Cash and Elliot Smith in its brave musicality.
The video features footage from a romantic trip to Paris - nakedly emotional, it matches the intimacy of the lyricism.
Says the songwriter: “it was a really tough thing to do emotionally, but I couldn’t think of anything more appropriate than offering the subject of the song on a plate”.
Decked out in rancher gear with a few chains for good measure, Makonnen raps from atop a noble steed while riding around the desert with three ranch hands, definitely making him not as solitary as the song title might imply.
Drink More Water 6 is out now and can be streamed here. Makonnen is also celebrating his birthday today (April 12), so watch the video for "Solo" as a gift in the player below.
A few days after issuing their long awaited Gore, California quintet Deftones have released a swirling, geometric set of visuals supporting the record's wavy alt-metal anthem, "Prayers/Triangles."
Half of the video finds the band performing the song from a soundstage, their bodies filled with flashes of neon light. Chino Moreno stalks the grounds like a vintage iPod commercial silhouette as he sings of dreamscapes.
Taking the song's "I will never walk this street again" at face value, there's also a series of black and white shots of the singer darting through a neighbourhood at night.
Montreal musician Paul Jacobs commands the stage — be it as a one-man rock'n'roll army or playing with his newly adopted four-piece band. He recently channelled that raucous energy into his fifth LP I'm Into What You're Into, and now Pirate Radio is giving you an exclusive first look at the brand new video for album cut "Human Emotion."
The psychedelic garage rock tune gets paired with equally wild visuals that take black-and-white performance footage and shots of playing with dogs, then transforms them with wobbly, sketched-out layers of effects.
Both mesmerizing and discombobulating, you can see the clip for yourself in the player below.
I'm Into What You're Into is out now, and you can catch Jacobs live in his hometown at psych fest Distorsion next month. It runs from May 12 to 15.
Directors Eddie Powell and Paul Woodcrest keep the taboo relations theme in their work going with this group of young women who are totally up for rough sex with their fake brothers. If you like teens and/or rougher sex, you will be pretty happy with this title.
The cast includes Anna de Ville, Amara Romani, Chloe Couture, and Tiffany Watson with Bruce Venture, Jordan Ash. Anthony Rosano and Bambino. Romani seduces her new stepbrother Rosano after he strums on his guitar for her. Romani absolutely adores it rough—she is great here and I can't wait to see this harnessed and used other ways in the future. De Ville catches Ash watching hardcore, rough porn and decides to give him what he likes watching after using a vibe on her pussy to warm up/lure him in. De Ville rules in general, is flexible enough to get and keep her feet behind her head, and she truly gives Ash a fun time. Watson and Venture are freaked out by the fact that they are family but oh, they enjoyed the solid, hard pounding that happened. Bambino misunderstands that his stepsister Couture's bruises are from fun sex and not from her getting beaten up. Once he gets what happened, she gives him the initiation into rough stuff that he had always wanted. Couture gets off hard on this thick cock.

Hot blondes Rachel James and Goldie Rush go on a date in their scene together of at Web Young. Rush is super nervous about the date and she just adores James, so she puts up a front of being a self-assured, very experienced and desired lesbian about town to impress James. It works and James just admires the fuck out of Rush's swagger. Well, James decides to ask Rush—who she presumes has seen a lot of naked chicks up close and personal—what Rush thinks about the size and shape of James' boobs.
Rush gets nervous and 'fesses up about her lack of chick savvy but James does not care at this bound and the two beauties go at it. Hell, I do not even mind Rush's ball cap because these two are just hot as fuck and normally, I fucking hate ball caps indoors. James' natural, small, firm tits get a lot of love and attention from Rush and they fucking both look so good here. I love every part of this scene but just watching the two wearing nothing but their panties and that one ball cap is enough for me. Click right here to go watch the whole scene right now!

Saskatoon throwback rockers the Sheepdogs are keeping the momentum behind their latest album Future Nostalgia going with a brand new video for "Bad Lieutenant" — and Pirate Radio has got the exclusive premiere.
The clip follows up previous singles "I'm Gonna Be Myself" and "Downtown,"and arrives courtesy of director Michael Maxxis. The video follows the song's titular character on a crime bust gone wrong, followed by a glimpse into his less than law-abiding life off the job.
"'Bad Lieutenant' is the story of a bad, bad man who hides his evil by wearing a disguise," explains Ewan Currie from the band. "It's the juxtaposition of good and evil as personified by the Bad Lieutenant movies: both Abel Ferrara's original starring Harvey Keitel and Werner Herzog's update featuring Nicholas Cage. We turned it over to director Maxxis, who brings to life this dark story about the evil that men do."
"I need to thank the Sheepdogs, their management, and their record labels for their open-mindedness and patience with me," added Maxxis. "Each day I was sending them revisions for approval, and every time they welcomed the changes — the stranger and edgier the better. With that said, this video is not about being weird for the sake of being weird. It's an excavation into the human psyche, and the impulses that are bubbling under the surface. The song is inspired by the film Bad Lieutenant, so everyone wanted to have a cop element, but I did not want to do ANYTHING like the films. I love both movies, and felt that the original story had already been served perfectly - no need for me to do a cheap four minute version. I flushed any inclinations to reference the movies, and did my own thing."
There's sex, drugs and blood, so it's not necessarily the most workplace-friendly viewing, but if you make it through the whole without getting fired, you're in for a twist at the end.
Just like John Waters and Nicki Minaj recommend, Fox is all about watching hot Ann and just making her as uncomfortable as possible. Hey, I totally understand Fox here. I mean, Ann is around all the time and she is hot as fuck and well . . . I would totally be all about creeping and peeping on Ann as much as possible.
Fox takes this a smidge further by going ahead and trying to make out with her stepmom, and after some initial resistance, Ann decides to get down and sexy with Fox. Ann is such a damn accomplished lesbian too. Fuck, she looks like she would get me off about 12 times a minute. Fox definitely had a great time and i love the darkness and how they both look in those night shadows. There's a lot to be said about a scene that's not crazy lit up too. Hot. Click right here to go watch the whole scene right now!
Next week (April 18-24) marks World Recycle Week, and to raise awareness for the environmentally friendly cause, M.I.A. has teamed up with clothing retailer H&M for a new track called "Rewear It," as well as an accompanying video.
The clip features colourful fabrics and choreography from dancers around the world, from Iceland to Senegal to the United States. The campaign itself is encouraging consumers to donate old clothing to the chain store to be reused or recycled into new textile fibres.
Speaking about the corporate collaboration, M.I.A. insists that she's not merely "promoting a swimwear brand for the summer," but rather using the mainstream platform to deliver an important message about sustainability.
"If all [H&M] do is go and inspire another high-street brand to get in on caring and being conscious, or if H&M gets criticized for any of their factory processes, these are all good things," she told Vogue. "We should discuss them in public and we should have this back and forth. At least they're even stepping into the [environmentally conscious] arena. Any of those things is progressive, and I think you have to give it a chance."
As previously reported, the National have been compiling a gigantic Grateful Dead-honouring box set for a few years now, which they've called Day of the Dead. Before the 59-song release drops in full, you can hear members of Grizzly Bear, the National and a full orchestra jam out to the Dead's "Terrapin Station (Suite)."
Originally delivered on the Grateful Dead's Terrapin Station from 1977, the cover has Grizzly Bear guy Daniel Rossen taking on lead vocals. His soft tremors are backed by drummer Christopher Bear, guitar and bass work from the National's Aaron Dessner and Scott Devendorf, a full orchestra led by Bryce Dessner, the Brooklyn Youth choir and many more.
All told, there are about 50 musicians on the epic, winding rock song. You can hear it below, while the full credits can be explored over here.
Day of the Dead lands as a five-CD set May 20 via 4AD. It's many contributors also include Anohni, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Angel Olson, the War on Drugs, Bruce Hornsby, Perfume Genius, Sharon Van Etten, Courtney Barnett, Charles Bradley, the Walkmen and more.
Nothing like exploring bushland, skinny dipping & jumping off a waterfall to get the day off to a positive start.
The great thing about having a gorgeous friend living around the corner from you is that mornings like these can happen… Both feeling a bit stuck in the Sydney bubble, we decided to chase the sunrise, strip bare and get back in flow with nature. I picked up Rhyme after a 5am wakeup call and we drove south, out of the city and into the national park. I’ve been coming to this spot since I was a kid, and it remains one of my favourite places in NSW. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, arriving just as the sun started peeking its head over the horizon with only us to greet it.
