Until now it was thought that visiting distant galaxies in the outer reaches of the universe - like Matthew McConaughey in the hit movie Interstellar - was impossible.
But boffins in a laboratory in Spain have actually cracked it...using magnets.
Albert Einstein first suggested in 1935 that wormholes, hidden 'bridges' in the fabric of spacetime that could create shortcuts across the universe, were possible.
And now the holes, predicted by the brilliant physicist's theory of general relativity, have been proven a reality.

Wormholes exploit the curvature of spacetime to reduce the relativistic space between two distant places
“Our wormhole transfers the magnetic field from one point in space to another”
Scientists at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB)
The researchers, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain said: "Wormholes are fascinating cosmological objects that can connect two distant regions of the universe.
"Because of their intriguing nature, constructing a wormhole in a lab seems a formidable task.
"However, using magnetic metamaterials and metasurfaces, our wormhole transfers the magnetic field from one point in space to another through a path that is magnetically undetectable."
The findings in the journal Scientific Reports, appear to show that - on a tiny scale - wormholes are not only theoretically possible but very much a reality.
The authors added:"We experimentally show that the magnetic field from a source at one end of the wormhole appears at the other end as an isolated magnetic monopolar field, creating the illusion of a magnetic field propagating through a tunnel outside the 3D space."
The scientists say the breakthrough could be the basis for a new type of MRI machine that would mean patients did not have to even sit inside while being examined.

Sci-fi movie Interstellar has been shown to be based on hard scientific facts
In the film Interstellar, a crew of astronauts led by a former NASA pilot - played by McConaughey - and scientist Anne Hathaway launch a dangerous space mission to find a new Earth.
They ultimately manage to travel through a wormhole to another galaxy, where they visit alien planets in a bid to 'relocate' humanity.
Madonna's never been one to follow the trends, but this time the trailblazer might be coming second with rumours she's in talks to make her own reality TV show.
The word on the grapevine is that the Material Girl has been chatting to production company Bunim Murray, who make Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Apparently she's been impressed with how well Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have done on the small screen and have made reality TV "cool".
The megastar wowed fans with the fly-on-the-wall In Bed with Madonna documentary in 1991, but the celebrity tittle-tattle and Truth or Dare games which characterised that big screen outing would be a long way off the private life of the mum of two.
The 57-year-old star is keen, an insider revealed: "Nobody would ever have expected a star as huge as Madonna to ever star in a reality show but it just shows how much times are changing that she's even humouring talks.
"She is friends with Kim Kardashian through Kanye West and Madonna has noticed how Kim and her family have made reality TV very cool and current - it's not just for Z-listers any more."
The Living For Love singer - who released her 13th studio album Rebel Heart in March - would be expected to involve her kids Lourdes, 18, Rocco, who recently turned 15, and David and Mercy, both nine, in the show, as well as her potential love interests.
The source told The Sun newspaper: "She's not made any decision, she loves giving fans an insight into her life, especially when touring.
"Bunim Murray have proven with Caitlyn Jenner's show I Am Cait that they can tackle sensitive topics and not just make trash TV."
However, Madonna - who will embark on her Rebel Heart world tour next month - previously said she doesn't actually watch TV.
She said: "I don't watch television. Everyone's a bit contest obsessed. I don't actually like the idea of being a judge. It's so, I don't know, subjective - what's good and what isn't.
Brooklyn rap duo the Underachievers have an album called Evermore - The Art of Duality on the way, and having confirmed a September 25 release date for RPM MSC, they have unveiled an ambitious new three-part music video.
The clip incorporates three songs from the album: "Chasing Faith," "Rain Dance" and "Allusions." Directed by YASHXANA, the six-minute clip juxtaposes the icy, atmospheric hip-hop production with hot and sunny visuals, as we see rappers AK and Issa Gold delivering their rhymes in the middle of the desert. They then hitchhike on the highway and catch a ride in a snazzy convertible before the sun sets and they have a drug-addled adventure in Las Vegas.
The premise of 2 Chainz's Trapaveli Tre track "If I Didn't Rap" is kind of absurd, considering the message is delivered, you know, in a rap song. All the same, you can see Tity Boi showing off what he'd be getting up to if he weren't spitting in a new video for the single. Spoiler alert: it involves a lot pool time!
Filmed in Miami, though you might not know it by the video's use of negative-flipping footage, the clip has the figure rolling around palm tree-lined streets in a flashy whip. It also features plenty of scenes of him enjoying a stogie in a hot tub, and splashing around in the attached swimming pool. All in all, it seems like he'd be living the high life, no matter what.
You can take a dip in 2 Chainz's world by giving the video a peep down below.
4Minute'sHyunA showed her naturally sexy charisma in the September issue of Ceci. The star modeled one-piece bodysuits, black lingerie, platinum pumps and cat-eye shades by Low Classic, Kenzo, and Suecomma Bonnie, to name a few brands.
One of HyunA's standout looks was a lace pantsuit from Jain Song's 2015 Fall/Winter collection. The piece can be seen below making its runway debut.
During the interview, HyunA discussed her faster-than-expected A+ comeback. She stated, "The schedule is tight and hard to handle, but one isn't easily given these opportunities so I'm just really glad."
She added, "I think people who have a positive aura get opportunities to do fun things and meet many nice people."
When the topic switched to her trademark sexy choreography on stage, HyunA quickly pointed out that each performance is a labor of hard work. She explained, "Having 3 minutes and 30 seconds is a short time to accomplish something and no one can plan ahead [for accidents]. All you can do is practice and practice until you steadily build up confidence over time."
The group plotted the ambush for two weeks – going as far as digging the grave and hiding a machete in woods in Miami, according to an arrest report.
They allegedly lured 17-year-old Jose Amaya Guardado to the forest and three of the group hacked at his face with the machete.
But when he tried to fight back Kaheem Arbelo, 20, "struck the victim with the machete several more times" until his face caved in, detectives said.
The victim was then allegedly ordered into the grave and the group then buried him alive before burning their clothes and the boy's possessions.

CRIME: Jonathan Lucas and Kaheem Arbelo confessed to the killing
Desiray Strickland and Arbelo stayed behind to have sex beside the tragic teen's grave, police said.
Guardado's body was not discovered until three days later.
Horrified cousin Ana Morales said: "The body was unrecognisable and decomposed.
"His brothers could not resist to see the body.
"They were crazy with grief hoping it was not Jose."

TRAGIC: Jose Amaya Guardado was found dead three days later
Police believe the group killed Guardado over a debt he owed to his roommate – suspected drug dealer Arbelo.
Strickland, 18, was arrested on Wednesday while Arbelo, Jonathan Lucas, 18, and Christian Colon, 19 confessed to the crime after being picked up by police last week.
A fifth arrest is expected this week and the family have said it wants the death penalty for their son's killers.
According to reports, the Firework hitmaker is teaming up with producer Diplo to record a revenge track aimed at Tay Tay.
It has been speculated the pop princess could be planning a retaliation ever since Taylor released her single Bad Blood and hinted the single was about another female artist who was mean to her - believed to be Katy.
The star is reportedly enlisting the help of Diplo, who famously also had beef with Taylor, to record a song called Crocodile Tears. Ouch.
A source told The Sun: "Katy knew Diplo would be just the man to produce Crocodile Tears for her and has now registered it.
"So far she's been very restrained with what she's said about Taylor in public but is now ready to put her side across via the song - which is all about being fake.
"It isn't yet known whether it would be released as a one-off or as part of Katy's fourth album, but she is keen for fans to hear it."
The 36-year-old encountered the wrath of the blonde singer's huge fanbase - known as Swifties - in November when he started a not-so-charming campaign to get the Shake It Off singer "a booty".
He later said: "All I know is don't ever get into a feud with Taylor Swift. She has like 50 million people that will die for her.
"It's like an army that's worse than North Korea. You can't step into that arena. That was something I was never prepared for ... one of the biggest mistakes of my career was definitely f***ing with her."
More than 300,000 homes are still having to boil tap water – 16 days after a bug contaminated supplies.
United Utilities is blitzing cryptosporidium traces with eight ultraviolet light rigs.
It said it was a “step closer” to its Lancashire supplies being safe to drink again.
But the company, which faces a mounting compensation bill to householders and businesses, said it still could not specify when it will able to give the go-ahead for people to use unboiled water for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.
The affected area covers a large swathe of Lancashire, including Preston, Blackpool and the Fylde coast.
Eight UV rigs are being installed around the county where the rays will attach to pipes and kill off the bug which is said to be at "very low levels", said the firm.
Customer services manager Gary Dixon said: "Nobody wants this to go on and that is the company as well.
"We fully sympathise with the impact that this is having on our customers but we are doing everything that we possibly can to make this problem go away.
"Putting this UV equipment in means that we are a step closer towards being able to lift that boil water notice.
"Once we get all this UV equipment plumbed in and working we will then have a better view and be able to accurately forecast when we will be able to lift the notice.
"But until we get all this commissioned and switched on and working, and we get samples that say the water is clear and safe to drink, we cannot specify the time that this is going to be on for."
