Talented as heck porn star Ana Foxxx had a walk-on role in "Tangerine"--a film hailed as one of the best films featured at this year's Sundance Film Festival/ The film--picked up by Magnolia Pictures at the fest--tells the comedic story of a trans prostitute on the prowl through Hollywood for the pimp who broke her heart. It is directed by Sean Baker, best known for his Netflix production, "Starlet" and the production was shot all on iPhones, which is pretty fucking cool.
Foxxx plays the role of sex worker Selena who does not please a cab driver looking for her services. Of working with Foxxx, Baker said in a press release, Baker said, “Ana is a natural. She took a minor character in “Tangerine” and transformed it in to one of the most memorable characters of the film. Her comic timing, subtlety and ability to bring depth to a character is on par with seasoned professionals who have worked decades in the business. She is one of the stand-outs of Tangerine and I know she has a bright future in acting.”
"Tangerine" doesn't have a formal release date yet but I will keep an eye out for more on this interesting production that also stars Katja Kassin and Scott Lyons, in smaller roles.
