English teacher Georgia is now back in Britain, staring with relatives in Ascot, Berks, and says her life has been ruined by false claims about her involvement in a gang of robbers.
She went to live with her stepmum in Argentina in 2006.
Last year a group of criminals used weapons and disguises to snatch laptops, tablets and cameras in a string of robberies from exclusive gated communities and country clubs in wealthy suburbs of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
The Spanish-speaking blonde was arrested along with her 32-year-old Argentinian ex-boyfriend Joe Mino and both were accused of being involved in the gang.“I have packed up my life in Argentina and cannot imagine ever being able to live there again”Georgia Wawman
Argentina's top selling newspaper, Clarin, dubbed her the "Barbie Bandit" because of her looks and portrayed her as a criminal Miss Big.
Ms Wawman told the Mail on Sunday: "The police never explained why they had arrested me. I only found out from the media once I had been released that I was supposed to be the 'brains' of an armed gang.
"In fact, neither of us have ever been in trouble with the police and, by the time we were in the headlines, Jose and I had both been released without even being questioned, let alone charged."
In reality there was no evidence against her.
So when the cops finally decided not to bring any charges against her she took her two-year-old son and got on the first plane out of Buenos Aires.
She said: "My life has been ripped apart. I have packed up my life in Argentina and cannot imagine ever being able to live there again. It was only when I sat on the plane and the wheels left the tarmac that I began to relax.
"You never know what will happen to you if you get on the wrong side of the police in Argentina – it is a very lawless country and when I was arrested I thought I was going to be raped and murdered."
She says she will never go back to Argentina and plans a new life in Britain with her son.
