‘DRUG DEALER’

Northampton’s Bush emcee Slowthai returns with new visuals to his latest release, ‘Drug Dealer’ and as always, he did not fail to impress and has raised the bar once again.
Slowthai has been consistently releasing good quality projects, that always give out an authentic message while the visuals play a very important part in it. Collaborating once again with THE REST on directing, the video has a dark scenario that compliments the tense beat produced by Kwes Darko & JD. Reid.
We see Slowthai in different scenarios of his life: at school being undermined by teachers who failed to see his potential: “Teacher said “what you gonna be when you’re older?/ Drug dealer – what else can I do?”, stressing from handling illicit business: “Business man I don’t business man/ Minding my business, got business plans” and ultimately bringing himself to such a high level of stress and depression that he wants to shoot himself. To break the tension a little bit, the video ends with a friend of Slowthai’s walking in the house with two boxes of pizza and the artist doesn’t go through with pulling the trigger.
The beat and delivery on this track is probably one of Slowthai’s best to date, as he approaches the theme and stigma around drug dealing with a sort of dark humour via his chorus: “Just a drug dealer/ Got one song it’s called drug dealer/ Nothing to say but drug dealer/ You’re mediocre like Kay and Peter”.
Slowthai is an up-and-comer who continues to be one of the most interesting to watch rappers in the UK and I am intrigued to see what else he has coming in store.
Make sure you watch the video out now via his Youtube channel.
