Josie Cunningham has appeared in court on a revenge porn charge after allegedly posting a picture of her former partner on Twitter – featuring a mushroom covering his penis.
The 24-year-old pleaded not guilty to one charge of disclosing a private sexual photograph or film with intent to cause distress.
The charge relates to an incident on May 9 when she Tweeted a picture of former partner Andrew Goy.
Leeds Magistrates Court heard today the image showed Mr Goy from the neck down naked and a cartoon picture of a mushroom covering his penis.
Cunningham, of Leeds, accepts she took the photo but says she had consent to do so.
During the short hearing Mike Vittis, for the Crown, said the couple’s relationship ended in April last year.
Mr Vittis said an aggravating feature in the case was the number of people who had seen the photo – it had been re-tweeted by a national paper – which caused Mr Goy distress.
Emma Smith, for Cunnningham, said her client said she had the consent to put the photo up.
She added that her client disputes it is a sexual image as Mr Goy’s genitals were covered.
Cunningham is to return to court in September for trial.
