The song follows suit with the rest of the album, which touches on themes of travelling, longing, searching and questioning. The record also hears Bombara making a conscious effort to create art that will outlast any current trends.
Her vintage-sounding, soulful vocals on "In the Water" definitely have some staying power, while the visuals make their own statement with simple yet mesmerizing animated scenes. The animation and motion design was done by Parker and Preston Gibson.
Specifically speaking about "In the Water," Bombara says: "It's a feeling, as well as a message of letting every distraction, bias, or bitterness fall off us until we are stripped down to the basicness of our humanity."
That sense of freedom and notion of embracing the simple things in life comes through in the track, and if you like how that sounds, you can catch Bombara live on her upcoming North American tour dates.
