"What's the future for LASER TAG?"

A crowdfunding campaign is underway for a Carmichael laser tag business leaving its home at the end of the month.
The space at 6031 Fair Oaks Blvd. has been a laser tag business for about 17 years. Its current incarnation, Lasertag of Carmichael, will have its last day at the location April 26, according to owner Sean Lively.
It's something Lively started preparing for last summer, when a franchisee for Fitness Evolution purchased the center in which the laser tag business is located.
Lasertag of Carmichael had the option to stay at its current location for a long-term lease. But that didn't work for Lively, largely because it didn't give him the opportunity to expand his facility's size.
Now, Lively is hopeful about relocating. "I'm more optimistic now than I was six months ago," he said. The catch? It won't happen immediately.
Lively has selected a new site in Carmichael, but wouldn't disclose an address because he's waiting to resolve permitting issues. Those issues will determine how long it takes for the new location to open. It could be ready in just four to five months, or take as long as 10 months, according to Lively.
He's started a crowdfunding campaign to raise $25,000 to help the business stay financially stable during the time between when it closes and when it reopens. Lively is using GoFundMe, a crowdfunding website that does not require deadlines or time limits. Users keep the money they raise, even if they don't reach a target goal.
"All funds raised will go towards creating a facility that will serve the community for many years to come," according to Lively's GoFundMe page.
He said the new location will be significantly larger than the 10,000-square-foot business he currently operates. The GoFundMe page mentions new features such as an updated video arcade and expanded snack bar. "It'll be a larger arena, more party rooms, additional attractions," Lively said.
