Everybody wants a piece of the porn business these days, even America's sweetheart. That's right folks, Taylor Swift is buying up porn domains, and while it's allegedly because she wants to prevent her name from being associated with porn, to me this feels more like the natural next step in her career.
According to CNN, beginning June 1, anyone can begin buying new domain names featuring new suffixes such as .porn and .sucks, but "a select group of people and companies, including trademarked brands, are getting first dibs on some of the more controversial domains."
For example, Microsoft has already registered Office.porn and Office.adult, according to Stuart Lawley, CEO of ICM Registry, which operates the .porn and .adult top-level domains. The same goes for TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult.
This may seem to the layperson like a move by a superstar musician to block unscrupulous people from buying up domains associated with her name, but anyone that's been paying attention to Ms. Swift's music over the years knows that this has been a long time coming. If you play "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" backwards, all you hear is Harry Reems saying "I could hear myself cumming," over and over again on a loop.
