"C'mon, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS is a bad host!"

*Warning: PIRATE RADIO presentation*

I was at a comedy open mic night in Hollywood two weeks ago. The audience were in stitches because a misogynist man was cracking nasty "jokes" about women who have abortions and those who unfortunately have Downs Syndrome.
I was horrified, as were my British friends.
Humour most definitely differs in either side of the Atlantic.
So while Neil Patrick Harris' quip about honoring "Hollywood's best and whitest" offended me, Benedict Cumberbatch, and seemingly Twitter.
In truth, it probably wouldn't have bothered middle America too much.
Did he go too far?
While that is an important issue, the fact he had the audacity to say it in front his audience is downright ignorant.
To say such a stupid thing while there was a plethora of black talent in the room shows just how stupid Neil Patrick Harris is.
What did he think the obscenely talented, inspirational and hardworking Oprah Winfrey would do? Laugh?
What about David Oyeowo? Or winners Common and John Legend? Or the lovely, lovely Lupita N'Yong'o?
The Oscars were indeed very, very white this year but ridiculing that situation isn't helpful.
He wasn't shy
Neither were his unfunny jokes, or showing off his puny body in those deeply unattractive y fronts.
Neil should be worried that he completely lost his audience, as they say in football, he lost the dressing room.
In contrast, Ellen Degeneres, last year, was amazing. THAT selfie proved that, the fact maybe A list were so very desperate to be in that picture speaks volumes.
She had Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and more.
Mr Patrick Harris would have struggled to get an autograph hunter out the front of the Dolby Theater to pose up with him after that shower of nonsense.

So please, dear Academy bosses, don't invite him back.
He was an embarrassment. An embarrassment not just to the event but to the equality movement across the world.
Neil was given a platform, a privilege, and he abused it.
Patricia Arquette, on the other hand used her minute or two on stage to try to make a difference. She had the support of the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep - Hollywood's strong women.
Patricia will have made people think, NPH has just made people think he is an absolute clown.
