Amanda Barbara Nichole Taylor was arraigned Monday on a charge of first degree murder in the death of her father-in-law, according to online court records.
The Montgomery County woman was already charged with second-degree murder in the death of Charles E. Taylor, and faces five federal in the attempted shooting of a man accused of helping her in the crime.
On June 19 Taylor, 24, has a review date to see if psychiatric evaluations have been completed before scheduling a preliminary hearing, according to Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney Mary Pettitt.
Amanda Taylor was arrested in North Carolina after the body of her father-in-law, Charles Taylor, was found in his home in the Ellett area on April 4, according to authorities.
Amanda Taylor was married to Charles Taylor's late son Rex Allen Taylor. Rex Taylor died last August from apparently hanging himself, Montgomery County Sheriff's officials have said.
Amanda Taylor faces federal charges for the attempted slaying of the other suspect in the case, Sean Ball. She is charged with injuring Ball on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, N.C. Ball is hospitalized in North Carolina.
Taylor also faces a charge in Montgomery County of violating her probation, stemming from a possession of precursors to make meth charge from 2012.
