North London rising star Capo Lee and Lewisham legend P Money have released a trippy new single entitled Mula, accompanied by action-packed visuals. The two MCs—or as P refers to them, “one badman born in April, another badman born in Jan”—have formed an unlikely musical alliance over the last year. They first collaborated on the “10/10″ remix and later joined forces on four tracks from Capo’s Red Bull-curated mixtape Why Not 2 mixtape, released back in September 2016.
Mula, which is produced by Atilla Beats, encapsulates the two MCs’ hunger to graft their way to dizzying heights. Capo stays humble despite enjoying recent successes, and communicates this through bars such as “I make the grind look fun” and “I saw music money last year / Believe me that I’m grateful”. P Money, meanwhile, packs his verse with memorably witty bars such as “Now chicks wanna link and hang / Cause her friend told her how low it hangs”.
Both MCs appear heavily throughout the AFTRMDNT-directed video, sporting full beards. Capo even mentions this on the track, spitting “no trim, I’ve got a trapping ‘fro / You don’t know about a trapping flow”. The video’s storyline sees the protagonist scale a tower block with two friends to “execute a rat” on the rooftop using a baseball bat. The clean-hearted main character shows a second victim mercy, so his two peers later corner him and confront him over this display of compassion. The poor protagonist presumably meets a grisly end. This is arguably one of the most unique grime videos in recent years, which you can check out in full above.
