Coming from his forthcoming project (which is set to be released soon on Island Records), singer-songwriter Angel has dropped visuals for his track Hi Grade featuring Protoje.
Written and produced by the talented man himself, Hi Grade is this blend of Reggae infused and R&B track that will having you swaying (and smoking to) as summer approaches. The song pays homage to his Grenadian heritage and his father, Tenadi Charles, who introduced Angel to legendary reggae artists such as Bob Marley, Misty in Roots, Dennis Brown and his own band Zabandis. “This record was an opportunity to make something my Pops and Uncles would be really proud of. It’s authentic and represents my foundation and roots. It’s really important to me,” he told The Fader in an interview.
Graciously graded with hazy blue and red hues; the video sees him vibing out while smoking marijuana. He sings about smoking with his love interest “Why don’t you come over my place?/ Baby, we can smoke up the high grade/ Them kinda herbs make you feel like/ Really make you love ‘til you feel right,”. As the beat picks up, Angel walks in a few female friends into a house party. The party is everything that you would expect – good food, dancing, people playing cards, and of course, more smoke with special appearances from Jamaican singer Protoje.
Get a dose of Hi Grade above and rest assured you’ll have something to take you into those late summer nights.
