Women are sharing pictures of their hairy armpits as part of a campaign to fight body stigma .
The hashtag #LesPrincessesOntDesPoils, meaning 'princesses have hair', was trending in France today, with many females keen to share their snapshots.
The hairy armpits and limbs not often seen in beauty photography are part of a bid to fight unrealistic body standards set up by a 16-year-old.
And even though she has been met with a mixed response, she says she is proud of what she has achieved.
Adele Labo said she had “suffered enormously” from bullying at school when she refused to shave, and has set up a blog with images of her natural body hair.
“I think society stigmatises women, there is massive social pressure over body hair,” she wrote, asking other women to join her with untouched shots of their natural bodies.
Although her drive for honesty has been met with a largely positive response, the teen has also been called a "feminazi" and "disgusting" by both men and women online.
Far from forcing women not to shave, Ms Labo says it should be an individual's choice.
She has tweeted her excitement at the success of the hashtag, which has been the most tweeted in France for much of Wednesday.
