On 4/20, the ever elusive rapper J. Cole dropped his fifth studio album ‘KOD’, an album which has already sparked a mass debate on his work and abilities whilst drawing praise on his decision to tackle addiction and vices. After releasing the first video in ‘ATM’, earlier today he has now dropped the music video to playfully titled ‘Kevin’s Heart’ a track that deals with infidelity and the complexities of a committed relationship.
Given his recent troubles and the cheeky title of the song, it was only right that Cole got the comedian and actor Kevin Hart to be the lead in his new video. Kevin Hart was famously outed on social media after an incriminating video leaked of him in a compromising situation outside of his marriage. Anyway this video – directed by J. Cole himself (and Scott Lazer) – finds Kevin in a supermarket with all eyes on him like a 2Pac album. Literally! On his journey he keeps having random encounters with women that want to tempt him into being unfaithful. We’re even treated to a J. Cole cameo as he tries to put together a pram.
It seems that no matter where Kevin goes, he is followed by temptation and women trying to get some from him. There’s even a funny scene in the bathroom between him and a man who forgot to wash his hands in the bathroom. Given the issues that the song tries to address, I think this video was well executed and complements the song very well.
Watch the video above.
