Emerging UK rapper Fontzerelli has dropped the video for his new song ‘Lord Finesse’. The song and video are inspired by the 80s and 90s golden era of hip-hop and pays homage to Lord Finesse himself, the rapper turned producer who hails from New York and was a pioneer in the rap scene during this golden era of hip-hop. The song is taken from Fontzerelli’s upcoming project DEV X HUIE.
The video has a cool throwback vibe to it, Fontzerelli himself gives a deeper insight into the video’s production and how he and the video’s director came up with the concept of the video “The video was inspired by the golden age of hip-hop. I grew up watching reruns of Yo! MTV Raps and had every episode on VHS, so I wanted to recreate that exact look, and I think we managed to do that. We filmed at Chip Shop BXTN in Brixton, south London; its decor of framed hip-hop greats, graffiti and turntables really embodied the vibe we were trying to create.”
The song is produced by Shai Sevin (contains sample of Lord Finesse – “Funky Technician”) and the video is directed by DOS.
