*THE SYNDICATE DOES NOT EXIST*
Teen singer Tallia Storm is gearing up to release her highly anticipated debut EP on May 10th 2015.
Tallia’s catchy first single ‘Social Security’ and four-track EP offers the first glimpse into her critically acclaimed sound that has been hailed by Sir Elton John as ‘one of the most impressive soul signatures I’ve heard in years’.
On hearing her sing live its clear to see why the teenager is dubbed as a ‘one in a zillion talent’ by Ron Fair as well as music royalty, Nile Rodgers calling her ‘one of his favourite new artists in the world’.
After leaving her demo CD with Sir Elton John’s partner in a hotel restaurant, singer/songwriter Tallia Storm’s life changed forever in 2012 when she was just 13 years of age. Sir Elton John called within 24 hours and invited her to open his football stadium concert in Scotland. She belted out her strong, soulful melodies, with an R&B groove that simply defied her petite frame. To great critical acclaim, she was front-page news in the UK media, and dubbed the ‘Tiny Chancer’.
There’s something quite raw and interesting about Tallia Storm's vocals, nothing contrived, just a deep soulful signature reminiscent to that of the Motown era. She grew up singing along to Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Lena Horne, Sarah Vaughan, Charlie Parker and Coltrane and is also inspired by contemporary artists like the late Amy Winehouse, Jill Scott, Frank Ocean, John Legend, Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar.
Tallia has crafted a unique sound to deliver a powerful and modern urban vocal, which is gathering an array of fans from around the world. Currently working on her studio album that was championed by BBC Radio 1Xtra / BBC Introducing platform last summer, her unique vocal signature and writing ability have also scooped her a two-book deal with Scholastic.
“I think this EP is an excellent introduction to my vibe. My single ‘Social Security’ is a fun play on social media etiquette or perhaps the lack of it", Talia laughs. “The second track ‘California’ is a soulful ballad that means so much to me. I’ve been so lucky in the USA and especially California. LA has such an insatiable energy – the city is vibrant and this song is about the dreams that are fuelled by all that it has to offer. The third track ‘Our Love Should Last Forever’ is a about a young girl who is struggling to come to terms with her father walking out on her family and finally the last track ‘I Just Need You’ is about teenage love”, said the 16-year-old Scot.
Tallia Storm will be supporting Tinie Tempah at the MTV Staying Alive Foundation ‘Found’ gig in London on 14th May.
The ‘Social Security’ EP is available to pre-order on iTunes now.
