Less than a month ago, East London’s own Lil Nasty surprised a sizeable portion of his following when he announced his then imminent return with ‘Sexy Senorita’, a smooth record that unsurprising split opinion given Lil Nasty’s heritage in the Grime scene. Now in the middle of what is proving to be a sweltering July, he has decided to drop the video for another new track. ‘Star Boy’ finds him reverting to type a bit as he actually raps his verses without the use of melody for a harder delivery.
Directed by AE Productions – who previously directed ‘Sexy Senorita’ too – starts with a brief recap of Lil Nasty’s aforementioned comeback track as the rapper gets up from a seemingly drunken slumber before heading to his local off licence. The directors simple but cleanly edited video takes no attention away from Lil Nasty’s effort as he delivers a summer heater.
Lil Nasty’s take on the dancehall influenced instrumental finds him flowing with ease as he embraces his roots by drifting in and out of the use of Patois. ‘Star Boy’ is already out on all good digital vendors and may appear on his upcoming return project ‘Chapter 29’.
