LUSTS "Illuminations" release

*THE SYNDICATE DOES NOT EXIST*
Lusts
Lusts are two brothers, two musician who have grown up with one another.
Andy and James Stone share a pop sensibility, one that seems to lean on new wave guitar cuts from the late 70s and early 80s.
Alongside this, though, there is a faded, bleached out tendency, one that recalls the tattered early seven inches of Beach Fossils.
Snapped up by 1965 Records, Lusts will release debut album 'Illuminations' on October 23rd. The title cut will receive a standalone release, a perfectly formed seven inch that bristles with promise and potential.
Clash is able to premiere the accompanying visuals. Shot by Youth Hymns, the directors comment: "It was an interesting challenge! We had to remain out of the camera's view the whole time while staying inside the moving vehicle. Controlling the spinning 360 degree camera via wireless monitoring was incredibly disorientating so nausea was also thrown into the mix. Miraculously our stomachs lasted the duration, resulting in us capturing all kinds of trippy and colourful footage."
Lusts add: "Illuminations is a song that has become the beating heart of our album, and it only felt right to put it out alongside our debut. We continued our work with the directors Youth Hymns, who we have a great understanding with, which is a really good catalyst for ideas. Inspired by Wong Kar-Wai's 'Fallen Angels', Yoshi Sodeoka's art, and Nukeme and Ucnv coats, we wanted to capture the hazy feelings of our Illuminations. We took a Ford Capri, mounted it with cameras and went for a drive at night, letting the streets and neon lights wash over us. The outcome is a dream-like state of colours swirling, lights trailing and distorted reflections."
