Renowned MC Chip has just released a new video for his brand new track ‘Darth Vader’. The video directed by Carly Cussen and Chip himself is entirely in black and white. Darth Vader shows Chip’s impressive versatility as an artist, and lyrically wades through many topics and is another strong and well thought-out visual and song.
Chip plays homage to the title of the song, as he raps “Star Wars, yeah I had wars with stars” and also addresses his infamous beefs. Chip stays in attack mode in Darth Vader as he raps “F**k these spitters and f**k their tracks with similar beats and the same bars.” Chip continues not to mince his words as he delivers another confrontational lyric, as he raps”Tell an MC the truth this week, you did not shoot this week, you was in the booth this week.”
In the second half of Darth Vader the song takes a different turn, as Chip swaps his aggressive lyrics for some important social commentary. Chip goes onto rap “It’s for the yout’ dem that I’m fearing, a generation without caring. Too many parents burying their kids, when kids should be burying parents.” Chip then says “Pray I never get shot or shanked,” and in the video he is dramatically shot but then the sequence is reversed and he comes back to life.

Overall Darth Vader shows why Chip is one of the most respected MCs in the UK. Darth Vader delivers on all fronts from lyricism, content and the video as well. Darth Vader is produced by Lil Silva and Sampha, and Chip flows effortlessly on the beat.
