Today is a huge day for rap crew 67 as their highly anticipated album The Glorious Twelfth is finally available for fans. In celebration of the project’s release, the Brixton Hill drillers drop the visuals for the projects title track.
Becoming the third piece off the project after Waps and Before Tour, Glorious Twelfth see’s the five man rap crew go back to their old roots, “Here we took it old school. Glorious Twelfth is us back in our natural mode. This track is letting everyone know it’s that time again – pure 67”, the drillers told I-D about the song. “It’s giving fans what the love, it’s hype, it’s the product of us back in our natural studio setting – pure weed, hella goons, a good atmosphere”.
The production is handled by Munroe who provides ominous keys, haunted melodies, and, of course, a heavy bass, while the five-strong drill crew individually spray their unapologetic bars, with each artist owning their distinctive flow. Liquez kicks off the track rapping “Still pull up on shit, big hand gun, you know what I bring/ so boy don’t slip, if I rise my skeng I swear I won’t miss”, the rest seamlessly follow taking it in turns to flex about guns and street endeavours.
With the track name ‘Glorious Twelfth’ referencing the shooting season (August 12th) for Britain’s wild birds it was only right for the boys to hit the country side for the video. Directed by Luke Carlisle the crew are styled in typical British shooting attire while toting some heavy artillery.
The 67 rap crew first caught our eye when they dropped the menacing Let’s Lurk, featuring UK rap godfather Giggs. Since then, we’ve kept them firmly in our sights as the drillers have continued to craft sinister spine-shaking drill hits. Following 2016’s Lets Lurk Mixtape, the boys finally dropped their brand new EP today The Glorious Twelfth which you can finally listen to here.
