ARRESTED for webcam SEX

A woman has been sentenced to two years after forcing a child to stand naked in front of a webcam.

Shannon Main, 20, allowed two men to watch her over Skype. She also took images online for people to view.

Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard Main carried out the acts to fuel her emotional desire to please others.

Main, from Aberdeen, was sentenced on Monday and put on the sex offenders register for ten years.

Sheriff William Summers said he felt that a custodial sentence at a young offenders institute was the only appropriate way to deal with the case.

The sheriff said: "You pleaded guilty to a number of offences - some of these are quite appalling.

"You may have been manipulated by others in the commission of these offences. Having said all that you knew what you were doing was wrong and still you did it anyway."

Main carried out the abuse on various occasions between January and November 4, 2013. She was only caught after the young girl told her family about what had happened to her.

Main admitted three charges, which involved taking indecent images of a child, having these images in her possession and distributing them over a ten-month period.

She also sexually abused the girl by inducing her to remove her clothing until she was completely naked. Main also touched her on the upper part of her body over her clothes, the court heard.

Sentencing had been deferred until Monday for the preparation of a psychological report.

Defense agent Stuart Murray said the report found Main had not be sexually motivated to commit the depraved acts.

He said: "Her offending seems to be based on her desire to feel affection from third parties in her life.

"She was more scared that she was going to lose the affection of that person and that she was motivated in a desire not to lose that person."

Main also admitted breaching the bail conditions placed on her when she first appeared in court in private. She had been banned from accessing the internet.

In October last year, Main was ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service after she admitted lying about being raped.
