Smoke Boys’s Swift is probably the most abstract member of the collective given his choice use of imagery, the animation in his voice and his humour. All of which are evident on his debut mixtape titled Swiftionary which dropped last month; just two months after Smoke Boys dropped Don’t Panic 2. One of its standout tracks is “2 And A Shoe” a posse cut that features fellow Smoke Boys member Deepee as well previous collaborators in Loski, Dimzy and RV. And it’s just as well because Swift has just dropped the visuals for it, making “2 And A Shoe” the first frack from Swiftionary to get the video treatment.
Animated and edited by For Urban UK, we see the quintet imagined as cartoons with features that tend to stay true to their likenesses. ‘2 And A Shoe’ finds the rappers going in over a drill beat that brings out the best of each artist, making it tough to pick a favourite verse (it could be Dimzy’s). We don’t see enough posse cuts like this unless they’re remixes so this is a refreshing effort from Swift as he looks to step into the New Year in a big way.
Check out the video for “2 And A Shoe” above and look out for more from Swift this year.
