When the No Hats No Hoods symbol flashes up before the video, then you better make sure you’ve got some popcorn, because it’s going to be a movie. Blakie who is a 20-year-old grime maverick from South London, already has some impressive accolades in his career. He’s helped produce ‘Crime Riddim’ on Skepta’s album Konnichiwa, a song with one of the hardest beats. But the time for Blakie to emerge as an artist has come and with a song like ‘Jump Remix’ it’s only going to see his career thrive.
This is the first single from his forthcoming EP ‘Bare Energy’ which will be released later this year. The song has so much energy that Thanos nearly mistook it for an infinity stone. Trust me when I say this song has a positive vibe to it, an energy you can’t ignore. The song itself is getting massive support from Sir Spyro and DJ Target, with them playing it on their shows.
The video was shot in the busy streets of New York, which just embraces the vibrancy of the city and musters some glorious visuals. The Lewisham MC is a member of ‘The Square’ a group which has helped him practise his unique style of both producing and jumping on mic. Jump Remix is everything right with music in the UK right now, it highlights how cleverly crafted bars and a cold beat can make you stand out from the crowd.
Being unique is so important in grime, and Blakie is certainly representing himself as an individual. Jump Remix has that infamous Lewisham sound, and it’s something that can just elevate a song. This kid is the real deal, and he’s going about everything in the right way, his work with Vfiles is something that represents how serious he is about music. At such a young age he has performed along artists such as Young Thug and Smokepurpp, showing his capability as a performer.
Check out the video for Jump Remix now.
