A verdict in the case of a woman, killed in a DUI crash, and the naked photos taken at the crime scene. The family of Jessica Mejia filed a lawsuit over those photos– and just a short time ago, they lost.
Mejia’s family says they sued the Cook County Sheriff’s Office because they wanted to clear her name.
Her ex-boyfriend was behind the wheel. He’s in prison now.
At the crash scene in Unincorporated Cook County– Mejia’s family claimed sheriff’s office employees moved the woman’s body to the side of the road, took off her clothes and took multiple pictures of her partially nude body.
The family sued the department for emotional distress saying the decision to take those nude photos at the scene helped to fuel hurtful rumors that Mejia was naked and performing a sex act at the time of the fatal crash.
And they say that’s not true.
