North meets South as rappers Headie One and Dave collaborate for new single 18HUNNA.
Tottenham-hailing rapper Headie One had a successful musical run last year, leaving a strong mark on the drill scene with his infamous ad-libs and catchy lyricism. It seems that 2018 was merely the run up to something bigger, as on January 1 the artist teased fans with a clip of an upcoming collaboration with South London rapper Dave. After the clip spread like wildfire on social media, the collaboration, entitled 18HUNNA, has finally been released.
18HUNNA sees Headie deliver his laid-back drill sound, whilst using slang wordplay to express his thoughts. He rides the beat nicely, and so does Dave, who brings an introspective energy to the track. Both artists have entirely different sounds yet this track shows that they are able to gel together nicely.
Directed by Nathan James Tettey, the visuals are smoothly black and white. From Headie kicking back with a snake, to him sitting on a chair made of money, it’s easily noticeable that effort has been put into making sure that the visuals match the lyrics.
18HUNNA is a cool track that sees Headie kicking off the year in style. If this is him starting as he means to go on, 2019 may just be his best year yet. What do you think?
